Choose-your-own-distance running event.

Design and brand system for "De 15 Van ‘t Galgenweel", an ambitious ultra-running event in Antwerp that challenges participants to complete as many 3.6km laps as desired around the “Galgenweel” lake in Antwerp — with the organisation challenging the runners to go for 15 laps. Breaking away from conventional sports event branding, I developed a vibrant and playful visual identity that reflects both the endurance nature of the race, the diversity of its participants and its unique location.

The track's distinctive shape around the Galgenweel lake became the cornerstone of our design system. I transformed this unique “thumbs-up” shape into a versatile graphic element that works across all event materials - from race numbers and participant guides to social media assets and event signage. The bold, colorful shapes and patterns were deliberately designed to stand out in the often samey world of sporting event design.

As with all design systems, it was built from the ground up with longevity in mind. The flexible system allows for yearly iterations while maintaining a strong, recognizable brand presence. The modular nature of the design elements means they can be easily adapted for different applications, from large-format event banners to small digital icons, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.
